While no school is able to promise job placement (it is in face illegal to make such a claim), they are able to provide you with many bartending job leads and the skills you need to interview and get the job on your own. Since we're at an Irish gastropub, it's particularly important to know how to pour a Guinness, a distinctively dark Irish stout with a creamy head. That requires holding the glass at a 75-degree angle, Young tells me. While you can learn as you go along for the most part, you need to know the basics, like how to properly pour a beer.
